You are welcome to use this site and our free resources at home, in a classroom, in tutoring, or anywhere else you are teaching or learning.

Kindly note, however, that free does not mean copyright-free or Creative Commons licensed.

Most of our current free resources are published © Swot Tots Publishing Ltd. All Rights Reserved. You may download them, print them, and use them with the learners you teach or support. You may also give those learners digital copies for their own use. Unless we say otherwise, please do not sell them, publish them somewhere else, adapt or rebrand them, or remove our name or copyright information.

A separate collection of older STP resources is expressly marked as our Legacy Creative Commons Collection. Those resources remain available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International Licence, with the additional permission for ordinary use by paid teachers, tutors, childminders, and other educators explained in our Creative Commons Licence Notice.

We've tried to make this readable. Nothing in these terms takes away rights the law gives you.

1. WHO WE ARE, AND WHAT THIS COVERS

1.1 This website, https://www.swottotspublishing.com, is run by Swot Tots Publishing Ltd ("STP", "STP Books", "we", "us", "our"), a private limited company registered in England, company number 9349909, whose registered office is 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX.

1.2 These terms cover your use of this website and of the free resources we publish on it.

1.3 The following documents sit alongside these terms:

our Creative Commons Licence Notice, which explains the licence and additional permission that apply to resources expressly identified as part of our Legacy Creative Commons Collection;
our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal information; and
our Cookie Policy, which explains the cookies and similar technologies used on this site.

1.4 If a particular resource carries its own licence or expressly states that different permissions apply to it, those terms govern the use of that resource.

1.5 In particular, nothing in these terms limits or takes away rights already granted under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International Licence in respect of a resource that STP has released under that licence.

1.6 Free access to a resource does not, by itself, mean that the resource is Creative Commons licensed or that copyright has been waived.

2. THESE TERMS AND CHANGES TO THEM

2.1 These terms apply when you use this website or the free resources covered by them. Please do not use the site or those resources in a way these terms do not permit.

2.2 We may change these terms from time to time. The current version and its date will always appear on this page.

If a change is significant, we will say so plainly on this page for a reasonable period.

Changes apply from the date stated and do not retrospectively take away permissions already lawfully exercised or rights already granted under an applicable licence.

2.3 We keep previous versions of these terms. Please ask us if you would like to see one.

3. HOW OLD YOU NEED TO BE

3.1 Anyone may read this site and use the free resources intended for learners, including our free online tests and answer pages.

You do not need to create an account or tell us your age to use those resources.

3.2 You must be 18 or over to join our mailing list, request a subscriber resource from us, set your email preferences, or place an order directly with us.

That is our own rule, and it is stricter than the law requires by design.

Direct purchases from us are also governed by our separate Terms of Sale.

3.3 If you are under 13, please check with a grown-up before using this or any website.

There is a short privacy notice written for our younger readers at Your Privacy.

4. OUR FREE RESOURCES

4.1 We publish a large number of teaching and learning resources free of charge. They include worksheets, word lists, practice papers, answer pages, printables, activities, and themed bundles.

4.2 Free resources are not automatically Creative Commons licensed. Unless a resource expressly says otherwise, our current free resources are published © Swot Tots Publishing Ltd. All Rights Reserved.

download them for your own use;
print them as often as you reasonably need for your own teaching, tutoring, childcare, home education, or learning;
make copies for the learners you personally teach or support;
give those learners digital copies for their own use, including through a closed classroom or learning platform;
write on, complete, or annotate copies of the resources as part of ordinary teaching and learning; and
share links to the pages on our website where the resources can be found.

It does not matter whether you are paid for teaching or tutoring, or whether the school, nursery, tutoring business, or other educational setting in which you work charges fees.

4.4 Unless we expressly give you additional permission, you may not:

sell one of these resources or charge for access to it;
include it in something you sell;
upload or publish it on another website, public file-sharing service, resource bank, or social media account;
redistribute it as a resource for other teachers, tutors, or organisations;
edit, translate, adapt, or redesign it to create another resource;
remove or obscure our copyright notice, name, or other credits;
present it as your own work; or
extract artwork, illustrations, or other elements from it for separate reuse.

THE LEGACY CREATIVE COMMONS COLLECTION

4.5 Some older STP resources, originally released in 2019 or 2020, were expressly published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International Licence (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). We identify these resources as our Legacy Creative Commons Collection.

4.6 Those Creative Commons licences remain in force. Subject to the terms of CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, the licence permits you to reproduce and share the licensed material for NonCommercial purposes and to produce, reproduce, and share adaptations for NonCommercial purposes. If you share the material, the licence contains attribution requirements. If you share an adaptation, the ShareAlike requirements also apply.

Our Creative Commons Licence Notice explains this in ordinary English and links to the full licence.

4.7 STP also separately permits teachers, tutors, childminders, and other educators to use resources in the Legacy Creative Commons Collection in the ordinary course of teaching, including where they are paid for their time or the organisation they work for charges fees.

That is an additional permission from STP. It does not change or redefine what NonCommercial means under the Creative Commons licence itself.

4.8 A later edition or revised version of a resource is not automatically covered by the Creative Commons licence that applied to an earlier edition. Where a current version is marked All Rights Reserved, the permissions in sections 4.3–4.4 apply to that version. Existing rights under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 in material actually released under that licence remain unaffected.

5. COPYRIGHT, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND THIRD-PARTY MATERIAL

5.1 Copyright and other intellectual property rights in the material on this website belong either to Swot Tots Publishing Ltd or to the relevant third-party rights holder.

Except for material expressly made available under another licence or permission, STP's own material is protected by copyright and, unless we expressly say otherwise, is All Rights Reserved. This includes our books in print and ebook form; free sample or preview pages from them; our original writing, resource content, layouts, and designs; our website text; and STP-owned artwork, illustrations, and photographs.

5.2 Some of our books, resources, and webpages also contain artwork, clipart, photographs, fonts, or other material created by third parties and used by STP under licence.

Copyright and other rights in that material remain with the relevant rights holder unless expressly stated otherwise. STP does not claim ownership of copyright belonging to those third parties.

Permission to use one of our finished resources does not give you a separate right to extract, copy, or reuse a third-party element contained in it.

5.3 Except where these terms, a licence attached to particular material, or the law itself permits otherwise, you may not copy, reproduce, redistribute, publish, modify, sell, hire out, or otherwise exploit copyright material from this site without the permission of the relevant rights holder.

If you would like permission to use STP-owned material in a way these terms do not already allow, please ask us at permissions@swottotspublishing.com. We would be happy to hear from you.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND TEXT AND DATA MINING

5.4 STP does not grant any additional permission for its All Rights Reserved material to be copied or otherwise used as training data for an artificial intelligence model, or for text and data mining, where permission under copyright or other intellectual property law would otherwise be required.

We reserve our rights in STP-owned material to the fullest extent permitted by law.

5.5 Nothing in section 5.4:

prevents a use that the law permits without our permission;
takes away rights already granted under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 in material from our Legacy Creative Commons Collection;
prevents ordinary search engine indexing, linking to our public webpages, or lawful quotation of our material; or
claims rights on STP's behalf in third-party material that STP does not own.

OUR NAME AND BRANDING

5.6 Swot Tots Publishing Ltd is our registered company name, and STP Books is our publishing imprint. Our names, logos, and branding must not be used in a way that falsely suggests that we have produced, approved, sponsored, or endorsed somebody else's product, resource, or service.

Amazon, Kindle, and their logos are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. Other trademarks belong to their respective owners.

6. USING THE SITE SENSIBLY

6.1 Please do not:

try to gain unauthorised access to this website, its systems, servers, accounts, or data;
interfere with or deliberately disrupt the site or somebody else's use of it;
try to bypass security or other protective measures;
introduce a virus, malware, or anything else designed to damage or interfere with the site;
use our forms or other communication features to send anything unlawful, fraudulent, threatening, defamatory, or deliberately harmful; or
use automated tools or make requests in a way that is reasonably likely to damage, disable, overload, or materially interfere with the site.

6.2 We may take reasonable technical or other steps to protect the website and its users, including blocking access where necessary.

If we reasonably believe unlawful activity has taken place, we may report it to the relevant service provider or authority.

6.3 Nothing in this section prevents anything that these terms, an applicable licence, or the law expressly permits.

7. OUR RESOURCES AND THIS WEBSITE

7.1 We take care over our resources. They are written and checked by people who know the subject, and we correct mistakes when we find them or when somebody tells us about one.

7.2 Our resources are teaching and learning materials, not guarantees of a particular educational or examination result.

We cannot promise that a resource will suit every learner, match every school's scheme of work, or meet every particular teaching need.

Curricula, examination specifications, and official guidance also change. If you are preparing somebody for a particular examination or assessment, please check the current requirements of the relevant awarding body or authority.

7.3 We try to keep the website accurate, secure, and available, but we cannot promise that it will always be uninterrupted or completely free from errors.

We may correct, update, remove, or replace website content and free resources where necessary.

7.4 Nothing in this section limits any responsibility that the law says we must have.

8. LIABILITY

8.1 Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for:

death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
anything else for which the law does not allow us to exclude or limit liability.

8.2 If you are a consumer, we do not exclude responsibility for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms or by our negligence when the law makes us responsible.

We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not caused by us, or that neither you nor we could reasonably have foreseen when you used the website or resource concerned.

8.3 In particular, the fact that somebody uses one of our resources does not make us responsible for a particular educational, examination, or assessment result where there has been no breach or negligence on our part.

8.4 If you use this website or our free resources wholly or mainly for the purposes of your trade, business, craft or profession, we will not, to the extent permitted by law, be liable for:

loss of profit or revenue;
loss of business or business opportunity;
business interruption; or
loss of anticipated savings.

8.5 Nothing in these terms takes away any rights or remedies that you have and that the law does not allow us to restrict.

9. OTHER PEOPLE'S WEBSITES AND SERVICES

9.1 We link to websites and services operated by other people and companies. These include Amazon and its marketplaces, which sell our books; BookFunnel, which hosts some of our downloadable files; marketplaces such as TES and Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT); shortened links used in our printed books; and our pages on social media platforms.

9.2 We do not control those websites or services, and we cannot control their content, availability, terms, privacy practices, or security.

9.3 When you use another website or service, its own terms and policies apply. Please check them if you need to know how that service will deal with you or your information.

10. IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG

10.1 If you have a question or a problem with this website or one of our free resources, please tell us. We would appreciate the opportunity to understand what has happened and, where appropriate, put it right.

11. LAW, COURTS AND OTHER LEGAL POINTS

11.1 These terms are governed by English law.

11.2 If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away any mandatory legal protections that apply to you.

These terms do not require a consumer to bring proceedings only in the courts of England and Wales. Which courts may hear a consumer dispute is determined by the law that applies to it.

11.3 If you use this website or our resources wholly or mainly for the purposes of your trade, business, craft or profession, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these terms.

11.4 If any part of these terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

11.5 If we do not enforce a provision straight away, that does not mean that we have given up our right to enforce it later.

11.6 These terms are between you and Swot Tots Publishing Ltd. They do not give anybody else a contractual right to enforce them.

This does not affect any copyright, intellectual property right, or other right or remedy that somebody else has independently of these terms.

11.7 This version replaces our previous Terms of Use from the date stated below.

It does not revoke or reduce any right or permission already granted under a Creative Commons licence or any other licence that continues to apply.
